"You can travel anywhere at all on the projects we do, and that was a big mark in the programme’s favour for me."
Before I discovered the programme though, I’d started off looking at college. I was looking at courses in Milton Keynes, near to home, but when I found out about the apprenticeship, it felt like a better option. I’d be able to study and work, earning money and qualifications together, rather than having to go to college and then find myself a second job to support those studies. It’s a great package.
Right now on my programme, I’m at college, studying qualifications in Technical Engineering. We’re looking at mechanical principles, electronics, electrical installation, computer installations and networking – all the skills we’ll need for the rest of the apprenticeship, and beyond.
"It’s a big step to go from school to such a vital company and such wide-reaching responsibilities – but it’s also such an incredible opportunity."
Once we’re done with the full-time college work, I’m really looking forward to what comes next – like the international travel for installation work. You can travel anywhere at all on the projects we do, and that was a big mark in the programme’s favour for me. That, and the experience you gain from working on technical security projects. It’s all part of what makes this programme so different."
