Rolling out secure WiFi in government buildings worldwide. Restoring an embassy that’s part of its home nation’s heritage. Delivering secure technology to the world’s most isolated areas. Whatever the project, whatever the specialism, we deliver it end-to-end, on time and on budget. That’s thanks to the impeccable organisational capacity of a wide range of teams in Project Management, together with the support and assurance of our Central Planning team.
If this isn’t what you had in mind, answer a few questions and we’ll find where you fit.
Previously I’d worked in the banking sector, where I’d had to work weekends. I wanted a family-friendly organisation; somewhere that encouraged flexible working and at the same time offered progression.
Colleagues here can be based in either Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes, or King Charles Street, London.
The work of our IT and Digital PMs can be absolutely critical: for instance, we maintain and secure the UK’s visa system on behalf of the Home Office.
From noise management to conservation, the Project Management team had a lot to think about in the Mayhew Theatre project: a new facility that would train diplomats all over the world for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Alongside the training of the wider FCDO Services team, there are some specific options in place to help our Project Management and Central Planning teams excel:

The tech and cyber security industry changes day by day. So how do the team here stay ahead?
Our IT and Digital Project Managers are spearheading a new Agile approach, with collaboration and daily stand-ups to keep everyone on track together.
As tech evolves, we think forward for our customers – for instance, with the rise of smart meters and the Internet of Things, we make sure government sites’ data is held securely.
Our IT and Digital Project Community Group provides top tips, advice, best practice and a round-up of industry news, to keep everyone up to date.
Our construction PMs don’t just plan new builds: it’s everything from making embassies earthquake proof to restoring a secure government site hit by termites.
What’s the difference between project planning here and elsewhere? The work you’re doing can be high-profile, of national importance – and with high levels of security involved.
In all likelihood, if you work in Central Planning or in IT and Digital Project Management, you’ll tend to do all your work from the UK – though you might have opportunities to visit sites to see the big picture.
If you work in General or Construction Project Management, you’ll usually go on visits to your projects – most likely for a few days at a time. You’ll arrange these visits to fit your calendar and your customer’s.
Ultimately though, site visits are one of the unusual challenges you’ll face here: unlike UK-based construction, for instance, you won’t be able to pop over for a look at project progress. Efficiency is vital – and so is keeping a handle on your projects, even at a distance.

You support others and share resources to make sure we deliver as a team.
You face every challenge head-on and you don’t buckle under pressure.
You let your team know what’s happening – and you escalate where you need to.
You make each project financially successful – for the good of the public sector.
